Foldersync doesn't run

So what you're saying is that when Foldersyc receives a command to sync a certain folderpair and that folderpair's settings has it flagged with wifi sync only, Foldersync does not actually checks whether wifi is connected or not first but instead just starts the sync and then realizes it can't complete the sync since wifi is not actually connected?

My Foldersync is now completely screwed. When I make a picture and sync. It removes the file form my smartphone and uploads it so my cloud and then when I sync again it also removes it from the cloud. Effectively deleting everything. It had been working fine for years. :(

I think you must have changed Foldersync settings and or folderpairs settings.

I suggest going back to the settings that have worked fine for years.

FIrst thing I would do is to change the 2-way to 1 way in the folderpairs, as this should stop you losing files.

Use Sync V1 rather than the newer Sync V2, if you have change to the newer method.

Copy several photos to a new folder called FStest.

Create a new folderpair to 1 way sync from FStest to the cloud.

Manually sync.

Check Foldersync log - everything worked ok?

Check that the cloud has the new folder with all the photos.

Once this is working change to 2 way sync and manually invoke sync.

Repeat the above checks.

I've had unexpected file deletions when using auto sync. I stopped using auto sync several years ago and use Macrodroid to invoke sync on named folderpairs. Since doing that I haven't had file deletions.

Good luck

Thanks, I'm not unknowledgable about this and I've tried everything and every setting and I have backups for everything. That's not the issue. I have never used auto sync and as far as I am able to tell everything is exactly as it was.

I've used both V1 and V2, makes no difference.

I have now established that the problem only arises when syncing to a mega account. My other folderpairs that sync to other clouds seem to work fine.

I am currently testing the megasync app and that one works fine too.

I truly have no idea what is causing this. It just happened out of the blue last night. On Wednesday it was working fine and I had not changed a single thing in between.

--------

While being preoccupied with this something came to me about the earlier problem where Folderysnc would not sync even though Wifi is connected. I have a fairly recent setting on my phone of which I have forgotten the name but that basically says it uses mobile connection to "enhance wifi connection" when wifi is weak. I did flag that setting to test it out and it might be so that when I come home wifi is initially weak because it has just connected or I am still outside my house at the border of my wifi connection range and therefor the flagged settings is using mobile connection to "help" and when Folderysnc tries to sync it sees that the mobile connection is 'active' because of the help and therefor refuses to sync. This would explain why my nightly syncing is never a problem because the phone is then close to my router and has been on strong wifi for hours. Sounds like a legit possibility?

edit: on the Android Play Store someone posted a similar comment on the Foldersync app review list with Mega issues.

When you said all messed up, I try thought you needed the label of help I offered.

However, it appears the problem is 2way sync with Mega cloud

I use Mega cloud, but only for backup, never 2 way.

When you get home and have weak WiFi, what triggers Foldersync to run? It's not auto sync because you don't use it.

I would turn off the system setting mobile data replacing weak WiFi. That's a no no in my book.

Macrodroid triggers folderysnc to run when I get home.

I will turn off that setting once I find it.

As for the Mega issue, I will keep an eye on it to see if more people report this. I feel like Mega might have changed something causing Foldersync Two-way to no longer work correctly. It could be use error on my side but I honestly have no idea what it would be.
