When I put the actions in alphabetical order, I assume "take screenshot" should appear right after "take picture," but I see no action for that. Am I looking in the wrong place?

When you add the action, tap on the magnifier (search) and type screenshot, it is shown the "Take Screenshot" action

To me it appears right next to take picture in both category view and the standard list (without categories).

Do you see the action if you search as suggested above?

I see the problem. The screenshot task only appears when you enable root features. Unfortunately my device is not rooted.

The screenshot feature is actually usable with accessibility services, if I remember correctly.
The fact that it only appears with root features is probably a mistake, as before root was needed. @MacroDroidDev probably didn't remove it from the list.
