Switch to last used app action

I have a macro in which I can cancel an existing alarm. When the screen is off, everything works fine when the macro triggers. But when the screen is on, the clock app is opened (especially annoying when I use another app in the foreground) and the alarm is cancelled. But then the clock app stays in the foreground. When I'm using another app and this macro is triggered I want:

1. The clock app to stay in the background (but the alarm is still cancelled) and if this is not possible;
2. MD to switch back to the app I was using at the time the macro was triggered.

The former I don't think it's possible due to being a native Android app and its fixed behaviour. For the latter I couldn't find an action that opens/returns to the previous app that was in the foreground.

Any thoughts?

Try to set a var to your foreground package name, then after your macro finished launching the app package, like that :
