S23 + Cell Tower Triggers

I'm using the Samsung S23 with the latest Android update. I have location disabled and was trying to test cell towers (enter/leave cell tower area).
It doesn't seem to work for me, I have a constraint setup to "Enable Wifi" when in my cell tower area. MacroDroid helper shows the logs, bit confused.

I was under the impression location/GPS does not need to be on for Cell Tower macros to work? Since the underlying android system reads from the cell tower ID.

That's not how it works. The calling helper file is just to set Wi-Fi, nothing else. The cell tower constraint (and trigger) does require location permission as well as Wi-Fi in range trigger/constraint because of the new Android restrictions for "increased privacy".

Are you saying the GPS has to be on for this Macro to fire correctly? I think your screenshot is Geofences and not CellTower Macro. The GPS on is not required to be on. I got this fixed..... Cell Triggers working in Macrodroid without having Location on.

What fixed it for me was simply removing constraints and setting the Cell Tower locations as separate Macros.

It this case it probably means you got a bit old Android version.

I'm using Android 13, the latest version with no location GPS enabled. I tested the Macro triggers again (GPS disabled) and it works fine, attached screenshots.

If it somehow works without them enabled then I can't explain that and don't expect that to happen.

That isn't the case on my S23 running Android 13. GPS/location is not turned on and the macro trigger fired correctly. Attached the screenshots above the post.

Galaxy A22 5G / Android 13, Notification appears and does not work.
Not sure why it works on S23.

Testing the trigger does not mean "testing the correct operation of the trigger," but simulating the event to test the actions of the macro

Ah that makes sense. I was misinterpreting how testing the trigger works. I'll try this later and see if the macro fires without location,but it's sounding like that doesn't happen

GPS is not needed, it's the permission to access it itself that's needed.
