Problem on Chromecast with Google TV

I'm trying to use Macrodroid with a Chromecast with Google TV, which is a TV set top device running Android 12. There's a slight problem installing it, I couldn't get past the help messages that Marodroid shows on first launch without installing a Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse app on my phone. But that let me click through the intro.

I was then able to place a widget shortcut on my launcher (Wolf Launcher) that will open a webpage. And it works. But ultimately I'm trying to launch an application, but that's not working because of the "Require Draw Overlays" permission. I get the error "Reuires Draw Overlays: To use this feature you must allow MaroDroid to be able to draw overlays".

But the problem is that even if I grant permission I still the error.

Can anyone think of a fix for this?

Or maybe there's another way to do what I'm trying to achieve? Ultimately I'm trying to place a shortcut on my launcher that will start playing a specific video in VLC. Am open to another media player too if it can play a folder of videos looped in random order.

I thought it looked a bit interesting and tried it, but I was able to add permissions and create a macro to launch the app normally without any difficulty.

I used v5_32_6_beta-universal.apk because MacroDroid cannot be installed directly on Chromecast with Google TV.

VLC is compatible with Chromecast with Google TV, so I can install and play it normally, but what is the point of doing it with macros?
