Low sensitivity of the MD drawer's trigger ...

The drawer opens only after several swipe attempts. Invisible width of the drawer's trigger (swipe area) set to maximum.

What device are you running? I have seen similar issues on my One Plus 7 device but it doesn't happen on any other test device I have (and I have many).

Sometimes it expands normally, sometimes after several attempts. Still on MOTO g30

I don't think it's related to the size of the swipe area in any way. As I said I have only one device (out of many) that exhibits the same behaviour but I haven't yet got to the bottom of what exactly is causing it.

I experienced the same issue on my Oppo Find X3 Pro when running Android 10 and 11.
I use gesture navigation and my understanding is that android 10 & 11 have known issues with apps that use gestures, multiple attempts and slow to respond - Nova for example includes a warning.
Recently the phone updated to Android 12 and I haven't experienced the issue. My phone settings are the same and I have to assume Google has improved gesture compatibility.
Swiping to open the drawer works every time with no delay.
As an aside in Nova, the up and down gestures on icons or folders work first time as well.
