Beta Releases - important information.

Since the Play Store often has ridiculous review times of several days it's very difficult to release quick updates and fixes discovered during beta testing.

I am planning to release all betas here as well so any users who are keen to try the latest beta can access the beta as soon as it's available.

It is strongly recommended to backup your macros before installing any new beta in case of any issues.

Okay, I remember one day I wanted to ask you to do that but I thought it would break the pro licence so I didn't.

That will be better and it will help speed things up!

I appreciate the option to support your work with testing the betas. However, since they are obviously not fully stable, me (and maybe others) have to downgrade again after a beta test.

Would it be possible to apply a different package id to the betas so that the stable MD build survives the temporary installation of a beta? If the pro-features are the problem, you could let us test the betas with the usual 5 days trial time (or grant some extra days) since this should be enough for testing a new beta.

It poses a few problems. That's yet another app to handle, and it can't be fully tested unless you use all of your macros on it.
If you are concerned about your macros (you can just make backups) or rely on MacroDroid for important tasks, then waiting a week for a beta to be confirmed stable enough to not cause major problems is the way to go (or just don't use betas).

No it's not possible to change the package because the package id is required to stay the same for many things like Google Maps, Firebase cloud messaging etc. Naturally betas are not fully stable (that's the point) so if you are not comfortable with the odd bug etc. then please just wait for the stable release. Personally I think many of the issues are quite minor and often what is brought up here is not even specific to the beta (just general edge case bugs), but how badly it effects you depends very much on how you use MacroDroid and how critical it is in your day to day life.
