This macro never failed me before but now after the last update this action doesn't trigger. Any idea?

It's been since just a few days ago, after the May 27 MD update.

I added "screen on" above "wait 1 second" because I noticed that if the screen is on it works fine. Also, if it's past 80% while laying facedown, it speaks the text after picking it up. But, adding the "screen on" did not help.

The last Android update was May 5 and this macro was not affected, not till MD was last updated.

Please help me resolve this.

"Do not disturb" accessed by "flip to shh" (which I recently activated) was the issue. Allowing MD to interrupt didn't help. I'll report this to Google.
