I'd like to create a macro that would watch for an incoming message/SMS or something, then do something when that happens. The purpose is make noise / flash lights to help me find my phone when I've misplaced it. My original idea was to trigger on a text message with a specific phrase, however this has not worked for me at all. It might be that our communications are defaulting to encrypted (RCS?) over SMS.

Any suggestions?

Yes RCS breaks everything. You may find an option to only use SMS with some contacts in the messages app but it only appeared for one of them for me.

Try using the webhook trigger instead ; if you have Bluetooth you could use the Bluetooth beacon trigger.
