@dhj49er Does the 1.7 helper file work ok for you? As far as I can remember there should be no change to non-Xiaomi devices with regards to wifi functionality so I'm surprised that you are seeing this as a new error in 1.8.

1.7 won't install over 1.8.
So I will have to uninstall 1.8, install 1.7 and apply the ADB hack. I should have time to do this later today.
As I have mentioned, on 1.7 enable WiFi action stopped working when the phone upgraded from Android 12 to 13. I can't remember if the helper reported an error....I just replaced the enable WiFi actions with adb shell WiFi on actions (which I was already using to turn on WiFi in airplane mode)

Thanks, so in your case it seems like an issue with Xperia devices and Android 13, it doesn't seem important to retry 1.7 in this case. I don't own any Sony device so this is a hard one to investigate, I don't suppose they have any additional settings related to controlling wifi in apps or anything like Xiaomi?

Perhaps there is something in the developer settings that can be enabled to allow this?

I've discovered the error with hotspot being reported as on when it's not (the constant values returned are out by 10 on some devices so I have to compensate for this case as well), but this is only relevant to reporting the correct error message rather than any solution.

I couldn't find any additional settings related to controlling WiFi in apps.
I also looked again at system settings - there is a WiFi on setting and MD can change the value but it doesn't turn on WiFi.
I also looked in the developer settings but couldn't find anything that's related to controlling WiFi in apps.
For my device the WiFi on action stopped working on the upgrade to Android 13. I concluded at that time that Sony had implemented the change, as other phones on Android 13 didn't have the same issue.
Fortunately I have a work around, at least for now! I will probably stay on 13 - at least I've got everything I use working well and the Xperia behaves itself eg doesn't periodically turn off the accessibility settings which was an issue on my previous phones.

So it works, after a reboot, on a Xiaomi phone running Android 12.

The WiFi on action worked fine on my Xperia running Android 12. It stopped working on updating to Android 13.

As I mentioned before, my Xperia is switchable with Android 13 at 1.7.
Also, Xiaomi is switchable with Android 13 at 1.8, so not all Android 13 is unavailable.

Which Xperia model is it?

You've reported success with a Redmi phone, but not a Xiaomi.

Redmi is a sub-brand of Xiaomi and runs on MIUI, so I believe they are equivalent.
Xperia 10 IV.

However, both are Japanese carrier models and I believe the ROM is different from the global version.

You may be tempted to say that the conditions are different, but everyone can only verify on the devices they own, so there is no choice.

Correct ..and that's why it's important to include phone model including version.

In your case the the non global model is important, as it's probably the reason it works for you and not the global version.

It is written as if it will never work on the global version, but in fact it does not.
We have confirmed that it works with POCO F3 / M2012K12AG / MIUI 14.0.7.0 TKHEUXM.
This device worked with Android 12, but it also works with Android 13.

I have on Xiaomi 11T / 21081111RG / MIUI 14.0.3.0(TKWMIXM) / Android 13 auto WIFI activation does not work, even with MD Xiaomi Wi-Fi Helper.
