[Closed] Allow anonymous forum users to preview and download attachments

Users who are not logged/registered into the forum are not able to preview or download attachments to posts or comments and will be prompted to log in instead, as far as I have tried. This could be annoying for users who are trying to search the forum for issues related to their own, and preview screenshots or download macro files without having to spend time creating an account they may never use again. I suggest that the admin who can change this policy, who as far as I know is only @MacroDroidDev, changes it to the proposed state.

I disagree with this opinion.

Even with the current specifications, it is not possible to completely prevent this, but if it becomes possible to download anonymously and freely, there will be an increase in people who redistribute other people's work as if it were their own.

Unfortunately, the world is not full of kindness.

I agree with Endercraft and Dimlos: images can be displayed but not downloaded, and macros cannot be downloaded without registration.

I don't know if the application's user accounts are in the same database as the site's (this would avoid creating multiple accounts for the same person), but a minimum of activity on the site is required, whether for user messages or for the operation of the accounts. I am even pleasantly surprised that macrodroidforum has not fallen into the circle of ads, pop-ups and other financial entertainment.

I am confused? What work? Most attachements are screenshots of MacroDroid, macros and action blocks. Every attachement you post here is essentially public no matter if users have to or don't have to login. Why would you be afraid that someone copies your screenshot, macro or a solution to a problem???

EDIT:
You mean the websites that crawl forums and similar and redistribute the solutions on their own web with a ton of ads and junk on top? In that case I understand.

If the image isn't attached directly into the post body, but only as an attachmemt then all you get is a low-res unusuable thumbnail unless you log in.
In this case they will only have to connect and/or create an account but personally I would not be for that.

Youre right! There are no ads! ✌️ I've never thought about that before. Having ads would definately lower the vibe/feel/class of the site. I'm awarding this top site a 🎩

I've always liked that they aren't any ads here since the developer pays for everything. It feels like I have an ad blocker enabled but without the ad blocker. We can thank all the users who buy pro or just watch ads on the app!

I know my question is going to be stupid but... Isn't it possible to have a special advertising page, that would allow you to connect and let it run to increase some income 🤔

Life would be easy....🤔🤣

The revenue from the ads is based on how many people saw the ads and how many of them interacted with the ad. So if you want more ad revenue you usually have to bother users with more ads.
