I know of 2 approaches to change network settings.
The first uses UI actions to choose the required network setting.
The second, not available on all makes of phones, uses system settings. I have never been able to use this method and hence use the first method.
May I ask you a question?
Why are you switching from LTE to 3g when a WiFi connection is established, assuming I've correctly interpretated your request?
I just turn off mobile data when WiFi is connected. Also switching to 3G you will lose VoLTE, if supported, for clearer voice calls.

On all the phones I've recently tried, network settings are hierarchical with auto switching to the lower network standards.
Eg for a phone with 5G the 3 settings would typically be
1. 5G/4G/3G
2. 4G/3G
3. 3G
The phone auto switching eg For setting 1, using 3G if no 5G and no 4G are available and 4G if no 5G is available, otherwise will use 5G if available.
I usually select the second setting as this turns off the 5G modem in the phone, reducing battery consumption.
What phone do you have and what network settings are available?

Am I right in that you are asking to
Change network to 4G when WiFi is turned on and network to 2G when WiFi is turned off?
Why select 2G when WiFi is turned off?
With WiFi turned off data connectivity is via mobile data....and that will be dire on 2G...so might as well turn off mobile data.
Why not leave network on 4G and turn off data when WiFi is turned off (or not connected)? You'll have no data connectivity, as you would in 2G.
Maybe I've missed what you are trying to achieve.

Same here :
When I'm home, I can only get 2g, no call possible on 4g nor 3g but Wifi works well. Outside I get 4g, so I want to switch back to 4g. So, is there a way to force a network type by using macrodroid or command line (I've tried "settings" command line, but it didn't work) ?
My phone: SONY Xperia XZ1 Compact / LineageOS 19
