Automating Daily Backups from FMWhatsApp to Google Drive: Need Help!

Hello everyone,

I would like to create a macro with the following functionalities. Please assist me. I'm using a non-rooted phone running on Android 10.

I am currently using FMWhatsApp, which is a modified version of WhatsApp. FMWhatsApp has a feature that automatically backs up your chats and privacy settings daily and saves them in a zip file in the Device Storage>Document location.

I do not want to lose my backup file, so I would like it to be uploaded daily to a specific folder on my Google Drive. When this process runs the next day, the old file should be removed from Google Drive, and the new backup file should be uploaded there.

This is an issue of how to use the FolderSync app, which has nothing to do with MacroDroid, so please look into it yourself.

Hi everyone,

I recently sought advice on backing up my files to the cloud automatically, and I was recommended to use FolderSync. While it does upload files, I've encountered a size limit issue, making it less than ideal for my needs.

I'm looking for an alternative solution that doesn't have a size limit. If anyone has suggestions, I would greatly appreciate your input.

Additionally, I'm interested in scheduling an automatic copy of specific files from my phone's memory to my SD card every day at 2 AM. Can anyone guide me on how to achieve this?

Your insights and recommendations will be highly valued. Thank you in advance!

What's the size limit you have encountered?

I use Foldersync pro and I'm not aware of it having a size limit.

Auto sync for drive is a similar app to Foldersync. The premium edition has no file limiit.

Copying files from phone memory to SD card is an easy folderpair to setup in Foldersync. Whilst you can schedule within Foldersync, I prefer to use macros to schedule the folder pair syncs.

Make sure Automation in Foldersync settings is turned on.

In MD select Foldersync from the list of Tasker plugins. Then select sync all or one folderpair from the drop down list.

Use time trigger(S) for scheduling.

I find this approach works well and use it for copying folders, files and backups to USB sticks, online clouds and my NAS.

One of the reasons for using MD for scheduling is the use of constraints. For example I only want to backup to my NAS when I'm connected to my home WiFi - an easy constraint to setup.
